- Aftermovie
2 January 2026
About the project
A wide shot of the whole room bathed in red, with the ceiling and the crowd in the same frame, shot on 2 January 2026. It is the shot that places the viewer: after it, any close-up in the aftermovie makes sense, because the viewer already knows what kind of space they're in and how many people are inside.
It's a single wide shot of the whole room, with no cuts inside: holding the frame steady while the light shifts in intensity and colour means deciding in advance on an exposure that works across the whole range, not just the moment it's shot.
In club coverage, these wide shots are caught at the peaks of the set, when the light and the crowd are at their best, not at the start of the night while the room is still filling up. Finding that exact moment depends on knowing a set's usual rhythm more than waiting for an obvious signal.
