About the project

An aftermovie piece with the artist from behind and the crowd ahead, against the light, shot on 19 October 2025. The framing puts the viewer in the DJ's place, which is what separates a crafted aftermovie from a phone video shot from the floor: the camera holds the position no one in the crowd has.

The full master runs 65 seconds, and the published piece keeps 12: exactly as long as the gesture that carries the shot lasts, no more and no less. Cutting earlier would leave it unfinished; cutting later would add footage that adds nothing to the specific moment being told. Finding that exact length is an editing decision, not a shooting one.

Coverage like this hunts for those moments of connection between the booth and the floor, which tell best what the night was like: not the most technically spectacular shot, but the one that catches the relationship between the person up there and the crowd down below at the moment it actually happens, something that can't be asked to repeat if it's missed the first time.
