The town above the sea

A Mallorca coastal town stepping down to the water, with the cape behind and the sky ablaze with sunset. Shot on 21 May 2026, on the same run as the other coastal piece, four days after the Madrid postcards.

The shot works through depth: the town in the foreground, the cape at mid-distance and the horizon behind, three distinct distances resolved in the same image. Getting all three to read clearly depends directly on the drone's altitude —too low and the town blocks the cape, too high and the detail of the houses stepping down to the water is lost. Finding that exact point is the part of the flight that can't be fully worked out before take-off: it's adjusted in the air, watching the frame in real time.

The blazing sky isn't a last-minute accident: it's the reason this shot, like the rest of the series, was filmed in the sunset window and not at another time of day. It's the same short light window that means deciding in advance what to shoot and in what order, because there's no room to repeat the take if something goes wrong the first time.

It's part of the same coastal postcard trip as the bay with anchored boats: footage meant for tourism, brands and destination content, made to represent the Mallorca coast without depending on a specific client commissioning the flight.
